No Regrets in the Good Life

Song Credits: "Good Life" by The Young Escape

I heard this song on Air-1 for the first time last week and absolutely loved it!

The Young Escape is a new band composed of four siblings: McKenna, Ryan, Krysten, and Luke Johns.

Everybody at one point and time wonders about their purpose and the meaning of life. So often, we try to find ourselves in what we do, how many friends we have, or how we compare to others. However, life is never perfectly good when our happiness depends on a status or reputation. We inevitably mess up or don't meet societal standards.

However, it is totally possible to have a good life through God. Regardless of what we've done in the past, He loves us.

I love the part of the chorus that says,

Never look back, won't trade it for a day in my old life.

When we are in Christ, our identity is no longer found in our past.

1 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) says,

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.

The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

It's so easy to dwell on our mistakes, but when we do, we miss out on the good God has in store for us right now.

Once we confess our sins to God, we are forgiven. We are not held in contempt any longer for the wrong we have done.

1 John 1:9 (ESV) says,

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

In the "Good Life", our relationship with God brings peace. He gives us joy and a reason for living. We are no longer defined by our mistakes and are free to live for the only One that satisfies.

This song has challenged me to quit living in regret. When you've been forgiven, regret is such a waste of time.

We were made to glorify God and enjoy the good life found only through Him.
