Song Credits: "Table for One" by Jamie Grace

Jamie Grace is one of my all-time favorite singers. Lately, she's been working on a project called "91 Anthems" where she releases a song everyday for 91 days focusing on listener stories and inspirations.

"Table for One" was Day 30 of 91 (Christmas Eve) and it is my favorite so far. Jamie Grace's rap game is spot on!

This song is all about trusting God's timing and not being ashamed of being single.

This line really stuck out to me...

"I don't have a ring because it's not my time"

Even in Song of Songs, the most romantic book in the Bible, Solomon repeatedly says, (NLT, 2:7, 3:5, 8:4)

"Promise me, O women of Jerusalem, not to awaken love until the time is right."

For all the single girls and guys out there, it can be rough sometimes. I know when I see couples my age together, I sometimes feel a little jealous or lonely. Yet, this isn't the outlook we should have.

God has a plan for each and every person on earth. God's timing doesn't typically align with ours, but His ways are so much better.

When and if God brings the right person into our lives depends solely on His sovereign will.

Instead of worrying about the future, we can make the most of where God has us right now. As Jamie Grace sings,

There are pros and cons to every season of life. Today, I celebrate the pre-wife life.

There is nothing wrong with desiring a godly relationship.

However, we should never buy into the lie that we need a relationship to have worth or not feel alone.

God lets us go through different seasons in life and teaches us in each and every one.

I've never been in an official relationship, but I was really good friends with a guy for several months.

He was fun and we shared a lot of interests, but he wasn't a Christian and his priorities didn't align with mine at all.

Another problem was that I made him an idol of sorts and spent more time obsessing over him than I spent with God.

Then, he suddenly stopped talking to me and another girl entered the picture.

I felt rejected and worthless at first, but then I realized that my identity should not be consumed with what he thinks of me, but only with what God thinks of me.

We're okay friends now, but I know he's not "the one".

In a "Table for One", I feel like I can relate to these lines now...

What happened to the boy you showed us pictures of last time?

I don't know. He's probably sitting on his couch proposing to his new girl. Awkward.

In that season, God showed me that He needs to be my number one. I'm not ready for a relationship if I lose my identity and purpose over a guy. And that any guy I get serious with needs to have God as his top priority.

So whatever season of life you're in, whatever relationships you've had or haven't had, God has an incredible plan for your life.

This song has challenged me to enjoy this single season of my life and to keep my focus on my First Love, God.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on "Table for One" or relationships and singleness in general.

God bless!
