TobyMac's new single just dropped today and it's incredible!
Let's face it, this world can get crazy. Like TobyMac says,
Some days it'll lift you up; some days it'll call your bluff.
Man, most of my days I ain't got enough.
None of us have the strength to make it through life alone. We won't be able to please everyone or be all that people expect through our own ability.
The only One who will get us through is God.
I love the chorus of "I Need U"...
When I'm up, when I'm down When the wolves come around When my feet hit the ground I just need, I just need U On my darkest days, when I'm losing faith No, it ain't gonna change I just need, I just need U Lord, I need U Yeah, I just need U
In the good times and bad, we need to rely on God. When He's with us, we don't have to feel lonely, afraid, or overwhelmed.
When we're close to God, He is our strength and gives us the ability to face whatever may come. He gives us reason to live.
TobyMac quotes Psalm 23:4 (KJV)
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Fear is one of biggest struggles, but it's comforting to know that God goes with us. We don't have to be afraid of death, the unknown future, or any current difficulties in life. God is over all.
TobyMac says that... Thy rod and thy staff … They comfort me when I'm beat down broken Hold my heart when it's split wide-open Turn these eyes to my sole protector And break the will of this born defector In Psalm 23, David uses the analogy of God as our Shepherd. Shepherds use their rods and staffs to keep the sheep in line and lead them in the way they should go.
I love how God's rod and staff are both gentle and strong. He comforts us and holds us when we're broken. Yet, He also has the power to break our will and correct us when we stray.
Life is full of wolves and dark valleys, but our Shepherd is there to guide us.
We don't have to walk alone or in fear. How much better life is when we confess our need for God and follow His path!
